Martin first began to work as an actor in
Seattle in the early 70's and he soon ended
up as a founding member of the Empty
Space Company where he did some 23
plays, often performing in three different
shows a day. This led to working at other
theatres in Seattle including ACT and
Intiman Theater. Around 1976 he moved to
New York and studied with Michael
Howard. Since then he has played leading
roles at many of our best regional theaters.
He has also appeared on Broadway and
Off-Broadway as well as doing occasional
television and film and many commercials.
In the 80's with the encouragement of Paul
Giovanni (director and author of The
Crucifer of Blood) Martin began to direct.
First as Paul's assistant director and then at
different theatres around the country. For a
long time he also taught acting with his wife
and partner Susan Greenhill, first for
Manhattan Class Company and then in their
own studio. Presently, instead of teaching an
ongoing class, he prefers to coach actors for
auditions.
